Fensicowles Station opened in 1869. It was on the Blackburn to Chorley line and was originally proposed by a new Company, The Lancashire Union Railway. The aim was to build a more direct route from the Wigan Coalfields to the Blackburn Area.

Opposition from The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway resulted in a joint line being built with the LUR. The station was situated to the South of Blackburn and had large goods facilities due to nearby paper mills. Feniscowles station eventually closed in 1968.
